If lottery players are any indication, most people, and I include myself, have waited on miracles in one form or another. For most of my life, as a matter of fact, I waited on the “will of God.” It wasn’t always big things; sometimes I sweated over the small stuff. During times of severe money problems, I prayed for a financial miracle…and once I actually got it.

After this latest thwarted attack by a Muslim, my thoughts started wandering into their beliefs about the hereafter--their heavenly reward. After all, what else could motivate martyrdom except a belief in one's heavenly rewards for it?

I come from a family of creative people. My mom was an exceptional quilter and had a phenominal sense of color. My dad could do anything with a car body--mixing and matching different vehicles and parts until he created whatever he envisioned.

While in Boston in April, hubby and I sat in a Dunkin Donuts next to a Jewish man reading the Torah in Hebrew. At first, I didn't say anything to him, but then Ray made a comment to me about it, and that led to a very short conversation with the gentleman involved.
