I've found a new author. Her name is Marianne Stillings and she's been publishing romance novels since 2004. Her favorite topic? Cops...and hooboy are these guys fun to read, but if I were to put my finger on a favorite male, the hero in The Damsel in This Dress would come out on top.

My sister has recently finished reviewing/editing my latest nonfiction book, After God: making sense of the world after leaving the faith. I thought some readers might enjoy an excerpt from the book. This piece comes at the end of "What Happened."

I have news: positive, negative, and neutral. Isn't that the way of things? First, the good news. I've just finished a nonfiction book I've been working on: After God: Making Sense of the World after Leaving the Faith. Ever since I abandoned the faith five years ago, my sister has been tormenting me to write about the experience, but I've resisted.

I have to admit a shameful secret. I do something when reading that I've been doing since childhood. It's unconscious. There is no deliberate intent. It's simply a coping mechanism for bad, boring or otherwise mediocre writing...I hopscotch through books.
